San Diego Little Italy Carnevale: ROMAN HOLIDAY to perform this Saturday
San Diego Little Italy Carnevale, this Saturday, March 5th 2011, will be held on India Street between Hawthorn and Cedar Streets between 5pm and 9pm. 12,000 people came last year! Costume and masks reflecting Venetian Carnevale regalia in tribute to the Carnevale in Venice are very welcomed at this event. This popular Little Italy neighborhood event is held in the heart of one of San Diego’s seven residential districts.
The Little Italy Association is the proud sponsor of this 8th annual Little Italy Carevale. More information about the entertainment line-up as well as the Passaporto di Carnevale contest on the can be found at the Little Italy Association website.
Fox5 San Diego reporter Heather Ford interviewed Catt White, director the San Diego Little Italy Mercato Farmer’s Market held every Saturday from 9:30am to 1pm this morning about the Little Italy Carnevale. “Carnevale” loosely translated means “Meat Farwell.” Catt indicated that as we are about to go into 40 days of Lent with no meat, you really want to “whoop it up” and eat meat this weekend.
There is also a contest to win a Venetian mask for next year and a ride with the Gondola Company in Coronado! Pick up your Passaporto di Carnevale here or at the Farmer’s Market or at the Little Italy Carnevale and get it stamped by all of the participating shops and restaurants to win!
